Here we are in a brand new year and it would appear things are off to a good start.
Movies are being released and are appearing at limited local theaters even though we are still in the grip of this horrible pandemic that keeps us cautious. First and foremost we can’t forget that we’ve been living in a Streaming State for the better part of the past year. Most of us who are avid movie watchers have sought out streaming platforms to be able to watch new movie content. In fact many movie companies have even pushed us closer towards their streaming platforms and started releasing quite a few new movies through them instead of at a theater. We have to wonder if they’re preparing us for a time when they will find a way to release new movies to us via streaming and not in general release at local theaters. All that being said there are many options on streaming platforms that you may or may not have heard of. On the animation side and for kids of all ages is a movie that has been scoring 100% with audiences all over. On Apple Tv+ is WOLFWALKERS. “IN a time of superstition and magic, a young apprentice hunter, Robyn Goodfellowe, journeys to Ireland with her father to wipe out the last wolf pack. While exploring the forbidden lands outside the city walls, Robyn befriends a free-spirited girl, Mebh, a member of a mysterious tribe rumored to have the ability to transform into wolves by night. As they search for Mebh’s missing mother, Robyn uncovers a secret that draws her further into the enchanted world of the “Wolfwalkers” and risks turning into the very thing her father is tasked to destroy.” WOLFWALKERS is in local theaters in limited release as well. Things become more complicated when Vivian’s hard-living neighbor Shelly (Juno Temple) disappears on a prolonged bender, leaving her precocious and unique 7-year-old son Sam (Ryder Allen), often the target of bullying, in Palmer’s reluctant care. In time, Palmer is drawn into a more hopeful world as he forges a connection with Sam through their shared experience of being made to feel different by those around them. Life improves for Palmer, and a romance develops between him and Sam’s teacher Maggie (Alisha Wainwright). An inspiring and unexpected journey unfolds for the three of them, but soon Palmer’s past threatens to tear apart this new life.” PALMER, RUNTIME: 2h 35min. See you soon At The Movies. |
