Ok, I understand the 2nd Amendment as it was written back on December 15, 1791 but can we move forward to modern times please. I mean, I understand back in 1791 the government was still new and citizens were still somewhat leery about being pushed into something they might not agree with but lets face it. I thing we are well past that now. We live in a time when politicians have figured out a way to lie, steal and control us with us not even winking an eye. So this notion of us having to have guns to protect ourselves from a foreign invasion or our own government that has gone rogue is more than a little far fetched. I whole hardheadedly agree that every American of Sound Mind Should have the right to own a gun to protect their home and property but just how many guns does anyone need, really? I mean, if you want a gun then apply for a license, buy a gun and register it and keep it at home. Unless we're all ready to go back to the “GUNSMOKE” Days where we all carry a sidearm and kill anyone just because they rub us the wrong way. Do we really want to go back to those days. Of course we don't. Maybe the time to take a closer look at the 2nd Amendment is long over do. Maybe it's time to bring the 2ndAmendment into modern times and put it into prospective. America is not the same as it was in 1791. The threats of someone sneaking a couple of wooden ships onto one of our shores and unloading a militia of scaly wags with long guns who's intent is to over throw our government are over. I seriously believe that was what the 2nd Amendment protected against but those times are long gone and we live in a new, modern world. As a former Law Enforcement Officer I believe that More Guns Is Not The Answer. I believe that Arming Teachers just turns them into 1st Targets and that is Not The Answer Either. Leave the Protecting to our Law Enforcement Officers who's number 1 responsibility is to confront any threat directly and with force. Just Another Point Of View. |
