Welcome to "La CANICULA" not to be confused with Caligula or Dracula a totally different story. "La Canicula" simply means the hottest time of the year and trust we have arrived. While the kids make ready to go back to school the best time to take care of those shopping trips would be early morning or late evening when the temperature is off the 100 degree mark. It is definitely time to stay indoors in the afternoon or at least stay hydrated enough to where you will not start experiencing symptoms of heat stroke. If you’re outdoors working, take a break at least every 20 or thirty minutes, get in the shade and drink plenty of water. Don't be daft. Don't try to be that tough guy or gal that stays out in the heat without worrying about it cause you will go down at some point. If you start feeling dizzy, flush or nauseated call 911 or yell for help. Remember, staying out in over 100 degree direct heat for an extended amount of time can kill you. If you have to be out in the heat, wear white or light colored clothing, that will reflect the sun's rays somewhat. Wear long sleeved shirts to protect more skin from direct sunlight. Try a wet handkerchief or a wet towel around the neck and drink lots and lots of water to stay hydrated. Plus use a good sunscreen too. If you get the spray type, do it right, spray it on your hands first and then apply it to you your face and the rest of your skin. This CANICULA stay Cool and Hydrated. That's just a Point of View. |
