Wow, recently I see all kinds of articles about coconut oil and how it’s good for practically everything. Now I see just many stories about Baking Soda. Yes, plain ole baking soda.
In fact I just read a report of a better way to brighten your teeth than whitening strips or bleaching and you guessed it, it involves both Coconut Oil and Baking Soda.
Here are several reasons the coconut oil toothpaste is both effective and better that commercial toothpaste and it can help you avoid all of the chemicals and toxic ingredients and save money!
You may ask why does commercial toothpaste contain harmful and toxic ingredients, like; titanium dioxide, FD&C Blue Dye # 1 & 2, sodium and sodium fluoride, just to name a few. By the way these ingredients can surprisingly also be found in toothpaste that is labeled “all natural” as well. These chemicals are not only harmful to your delicate tooth enamel, they also affect your overall health! Glycerin is another ingredient to be cautious of as it can inhibit the materialization of teeth. It is also found in fluoride-free toothpaste.
As we have all learned by now Coconut oil is antibacterial, antimicrobial, and anti-fungal. Studies also show that coconut oil destroys the bacteria that can cause tooth decay. The other primary ingredient in this natural toothpaste is baking soda. Baking soda is a very mild abrasive which with cleaning and whitening the teeth, and restoring pH balance.
Here are the ingredients you’ll need; 2 tablespoons Coconut Oil, 2 tablespoons Baking Soda,
and 10 drops of Peppermint oil ( this is optional for taste if desired).
Mix the baking soda with the coconut oil until it forms a paste like consistency.
Add several drops of peppermint oil to taste and mix. That’s it you now have your own, home made, natural , whitening Toothpaste.
Wait, you already have half the ingredients for a great healthy smoothie as well. Just add oatmeal, half a banana, a small granny smith apple and a cup of Soy, Hemp or Almond Milk, Mix in a blender add crushed ice, blend again and there you go. A healthy smoothie you can enjoy at anytime to keep your energy up.
SO, what ever you do, Live Life, Happy, Healthy Naturally.
